ALEXANDER PDR1 ATLANTEAN
GREATER GLASGOW LA367 (MUS 252F)

This Atlantean is my first such model which is correctly depicted by the EFE casting and is closer to 100% accurate. I had to modify the casting in the usual way at the rear end - lowering the window and fitting curved mouldings above the bustle. The bustle itself is EFE's own, but with the shrouds filed off and the fitting of some additional air intakes, revised bonnet moulding and additional reversing light, together with a radiator cap. The side indicators are slightly different to that on the original casting as is the front end treatment which required a little filler to create a different shape of moulding around the indicator lights, correct for this later version of the design. I painted the "Albion" version of the Atlantean badge as I could not source a suitable decal. I added wheel nuts as usual and decided to retain the moulded windscreen as I am fed up cutting out new ones!

Similar LA320 (GYS 896D) has recently been restored into Glasgow Corporation colours and resides at the Bus Museum at Bridgeton. LA389 (MUS 274F) was preserved for a time but has since given up a number of spares and been scrapped. A surprising number of LAs (including two others from this batch) have been preserved and subsequently scrapped which is fairly pathetic really. Sadly it looks increasingly unlikely that a PDR will be restored in this livery.
