Strathclyde PTE purchased a variety of different buses in the early 1980s, the most obvious choice being the Leyland Olympian chassis.
Several of these buses were fitted with Roe bodywork to full height and this model represents one of these.
EFE's Olympian model is a mixed bag - a very good casting as always but it is a compromise between a low height bus but with deeper lower deck windows as found on the full height version.
I have added some height to the model by inserting plastic strip between the decks to better recreate a proper full height bus. The front panel is not quite right for Strathclyde but I decided to leave it alone.
Details were added to the interior and the LEYLAND badge carefully painted on the grill using the commercially available but poorly represented decal as a base. Various grilles were also removed or added and a recessed
destination aperture made by grinding away some metal and using filler to create the shape.
As is becoming usual for Glasgow, none of this type of bus has survived into preservation.
